Distractions

May 24, 2018 by Deanna Repose Oaks Leave a Comment

Faced with an unknown fear
Not knowing which way is up
Reaching through the unknown
Survived so much from the past
Yet still wanting to crawl back
Towards the familiar
Rereading records of old
Heart bleeding on tear soaked pages
Still can’t believe I’m here
The bridges are burnt I can’t go back
I stand on the precipice longing
For what I knew
It all started as a distraction
To keep from looking towards the breach
Without looking, now falling
Farther than I thought I could
Because I desired avoidance
Rather than success
