So I joined another writer’s group on Facebook. I needed a wider group of support because I keep getting close to “THE END” and backing away. Someone in the group asked this question (or something similar): do you post your book’s playlist when you get to “THE END”? That got me thinking – should I compile a playlist for the books I am writing? I haven’t yet, but should I? The only playlist I built I use to get me over the FEAR of writing. I play it BEFORE I start writing when I need to conquer my fear; it has nothing to do with individual books I am writing.
My playlist is full of songs to keep me from worrying… about what other people will say, how my writing will affect others, what I am trying to keep from saying while trying to say something else.
The more I thought about my playlist, the more I wanted to change it. I almost replaced the whole list with songs about rebellion. I kept thinking, Rebellion is such a part of who I am, maybe I should keep that front and center. But, I realized replacing songs would ruin the vibe I set out to create when I built the playlist.
This led me down into a rabbit hole of never-ending songs from my past – the ones I listened to during my rebellious years. One thing I noticed is that I don’t seem to find any new songs about rebellion … is it because I am not looking hard enough, or are kids not rebelling anymore?
I think there is a book in there somewhere. I’m going to go find it now. Until next week.
