Journal #23

September 10, 2020 by Deanna Repose Oaks

I tried to jump into the deep end only to be met with mud. While it is great for my skin, it is bad for moving forward. I now have to rethink my strategy. Not a bad thing, just a setback.

Pushing myself to be better today than I was yesterday, but allowing myself to fumble through my day if need be is my goal. I’ve gotten better about it, but as all humans are, I am not yet perfect. Encountering this mud instead of crystal clear warm water is a testament to this philosophy. While I am struggling to move forward, fumbling through my day, I am still better today than I was yesterday because today I am IN the mud instead of just dreaming about the deep end.

Once I get moving, things may really get moving. The force it takes to wade through mud is several times over what it takes to move through water. Soon, I will be swimming, I just know it!
